How often do I need to replace the bottle?
You will not need to replace it as UV-C LED technology does not require a filter replacement. Simply recharge the bottle cap and one charge lasts up to 2 months.

Where does the filtered stuff go?
The UV-C LED breaks up bacteria DNA, so it becomes harmless organic material. The bottle will turn-on automatically every 4 hours – the bacteria or other bio-contaminants never have a chance to develop in the first place.

What is UV-C LED technology?
The UV-C LED chips in LARQ are smaller, more energy efficient, less toxic (mercury free), and more economical compared to traditional Mercury based UV technology. The UV-C wavelength is 280 nanometer spectrum that is uniquely suited to eradicate bacteria and germs even before they have a chance to spread.

The LARQ Bottle will be 525 ml which is approximately to a liquid capacity of 18 fl.oz/.525 liter. It will be 243 mm in height, 69mm in diameter and have a total weight of 13 oz.

No, it does not but it does eradicate 99.9999% of harmful bacteria and viruses. It also keeps your bottle free of harmful and odor-causing germs.

How do I clean the LARQ Bottle?
The LARQ Bottle is 10,000 times more hygienic than a normal reusable bottle. You almost never have to clean the bottle if it is used for water. You may need to clean the bottle when you use it for liquids other than water. We recommend gentle hand washing with soap and warm water.

Can I put other beverages in there besides water?
Yes, you can but the LARQ Bottle is designed as a self-cleaning bottle for water. If you’re putting sugary drinks or coffee in there, the bottle should be hand washed.

How did you determine the shipping rates?
As a small company with low shipping volumes we actually have estimated this amount to just cover the cost of shipping the bottles. If shipping ends up being significantly cheaper than our estimate - we will certainly take that into account, let our backers know and credit back the difference.

How long will the UV-C last?
The LED itself is rated for >100,000 cycles (on/offs) - much more robust than existing Mercury options (typically 8,000 to 10,000 if you read the product data sheets). Depending on your use, it should last a long time.

Will the UV-C impact the taste?
The UV-C light will not remove any dissolved minerals from the water so it will not change the taste of the water.
However, it does improve the overall experience of drinking out of the bottle because it removes the funky smell of the bottle and avoids backwards contamination of the water in the bottle.

How does UV-C LED reach the top (neck) of the bottle?
The inner surface of the LARQ bottle is a polished high-grade stainless steel which is reflective of the UV-C LED light and will help channel the disinfecting rays into the corners of the neck. Of course the rim or threads and outside of the bottle will not be getting the UV-C exposure, so we do recommend hand washing the opening from time to time (both inside and outside).

Does the LARQ bottle have any safety measures?
Yes, we chose to make the bottle stainless steel and not transparent as an initial safety measure, but are planning to incorporate a light sensor into the cap that will act as a safety switch - so when the cap is off and senses any ambient light it will switch off. This is an area that is still being finalized - it won’t change the design but it is not fully locked in.

How will I know it is working properly?
We designed the LARQ Bottle to have an indicator light and sensor for when the LED light is not functioning, there is an error with the product or the battery is low.

What is Adventure Mode? How do you activate it?
In Adventure Mode the LARQ bottle has a 3x increase in UV dosage - the standard cycle delivers 1,200 uW-sec (or mJ) to the water, while adventure mode delivers around 3,000 uW-sec (or mJ) to the water.
To activate Adventure Mode, simply hold down the top button (instead of tapping it).

Backers that got the $55 Black Friday deal will have their additional bottle pre-applied to their order as an add-on.
After completing the survey questions for the bottles included in your pledge level, proceed to the add-ons section where you should see your additional $55 bottle already applied. What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
